This morning at nine a local jury will begin to decide the punishment for local resident Plato Splawn Jr. who has pled guilty to attempted capital murder in a double shooting that occurred three years ago.
Splawn Jr. entered the plea yesterday afternoon in a hearing before District Judge Don Kraemer. Splawn has confessed to the shooting death of 25-year-old Edwin Garcia on December 6th, 2011. He also shot his wife in the back, but she survived.
The charge, attempted capital murder, is classified as a first-degree felony. Conviction can result in probation to five to 99 years incarceration.
