Walker County Commissioners met for a special session at the courthouse Wednesday.
Commissioners conducted a “Budget Workshop.”
County Auditor Patricia Allen presented the proposed tax rate . . . .
A draft of the Walker County Proposed Budget says “at a 100 percent collection rate” the “budget will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by an amount of $471,863, which is a 2.85 percent increase from last year’s budget. The property tax to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $355,336.”
The draft said, “The total debt obligation of the County is $18,515,000.”
September 8th was set for the budget adoption date. Future public hearings on the tax rate and budget would be set in accordance with that date.
