Monday, Walker County Commissioners had a public hearing on determining a possible location for a County Energy Transportation Reinvestment Zone. It’s necessary to establish a zone for eligibility in applying for a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation that would make additional monies available for road and bridge maintenance.
The Court is looking for a few locations in the county where landowners would be willing to allow the County to designate their land as a Reinvestment Zone. Commissioners discussed property owned by Curtis Bennett on Dodge-Oakhurst Road as a possible place for establishing a zone. Other properties discussed were properties on Flynt and Round Prairie Roads.
Walker County citizens have 30 days to inquire or make suggestions on a good location for a Reinvestment Zone. Anyone interested may come by the office of the County Judge at 1100 University Avenue or call 436-4910.
