Published on June 30, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Sam Houston State University has a new baseball coach. He is Matt Deggs. Originally from Texas City, Deggs was an assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette for three seasons. Before that, he spent six years at Texas A&M.

In 2014, Louisiana-Lafayette’s Ragin’ Cajuns ended their 2014 season first in runs at 530, number two in batting average at .317, with 68 home runs tallied and coming in fourth in runs per game.

Deggs replaces former coach David Pierce who is now with Tulane.
