New Waverly Firefighters were called to a house fire Friday afternoon on Longstreet in New Waverly. At the same time, additional crews were dispatched from the Huntsville Fire Department and North Montgomery County as part of the New Waverly Fire Department’s automatic aid system. The first New Waverly units quickly brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby homes just a few feet away. After knocking down the fire, they were relieved by the arriving Huntsville and North Montgomery County crews. The Huntsville and NMCFD firefighters were able to salvage many of the home’s contents and contained the fire to two rooms and the attic. No injuries were reported.
Automatic Aid Agreements with neighboring fire departments allow for additional crews to be dispatched at the onset of a major incident and arrive much sooner.
