Stubblefield Bridge Project Moves Forward

Published on May 13, 2014 by Larry Crippen

In Walker County Commissioners’ Court Monday, commissioners approved a reimbursable agreement and project agreement in regard to the Stubblefield Lake Road Bridge project. The bridge carries traffic in and out of the Sam Houston National Forest about 11 miles west of New Waverly.

Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Paulsel explained . . . .

Judge Pierce added that, “Also, there is the possibility of some safety money from TxDOT.”

In order to keep the bridge operational, the County has added temporary pilings to support the bridge for now. Paulsel added that the “agreement that we approved will now start the environmental analysis, the design, right-of-way and utilities that are related to the structure.” Paulsel projected actual construction to begin in late 2016.
