City Council Discusses Town Creek Drainage Issues

At last night’s session of the Huntsville City Council, there was a “first reading” regarding the consideration of amending a Klotz and Associates Phase 1 contract for the Town Creek Drainage Project to include an additional $360,000 for Phase 2 to include the design, engineering and construction of the project.

Director of Neighborhood Resources, Dr. Sherry McKibben, commented on the issue . . . .


Local environmental activist George Russell objected to the idea of channelizing a creek and its subsequent environmental damage and expressed his view that SHSU should take part in the expense of the Town Creek project . . . .


City Manager Matt Benoit informed councilmembers that there was more to come on the issues involved on the Drainage Project which will take place at the upcoming “second reading” in regard to Phase 2 of the project . . . .
