Presidential Primaries in the Northeast Today

Published on April 26, 2016 by Larry Crippen

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are hoping to be the big winners for their respective parties in the primaries scheduled for Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island today.

Senator Ted Cruz and Ohio Governor John Kasich have announced that their campaigns were uniting to try and stop Trump from getting the full number of delegates he needs to clinch the nomination. Under an arrangement with Cruz, Kasich wasn’t to compete with him for votes in Indiana in that state’s May 3rd primary. Cruz, then, was to return the favor for Kasich in Oregon and New Mexico.

Later, Governor Kasich said he wanted voters in Indiana to support him. He said they just agreed not to concentrate his resources in the state.
