Published on May 23, 2017 by Larry Crippen

The Texas State University System Board of Regents approved several new academic offerings for Sam Houston State University during its quarterly meeting on Friday, May 19, at Texas State University in San Marcos.

According to SHSU officials, the program changes will help address increasing educational requirements for teaching professionals and better reflect specific areas for which students are being prepared to enter the job force.

The regents authorized SHSU to offer a program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in environmental science, upon final approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The regents also granted approval to offer the Master of Arts degree in mathematics via distance learning.

The university also received approval to offer graduate certificate programs in sociology, American history and English.

Regents approved additional academic items that may be found in the news story on this topic on the Today at Sam website.
