The Walker County Historical Commission, Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center and Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library invite you to join them in celebrating Texas Independence Day and Sam Houston’s Birthday today.
This year’s guest speaker at the gravesite ceremony is Dr. Gregg Dimmick, author of “Sea of Mud: The Retreat of the Mexican Army after San Jacinto, An Archeological Investigation”.
The Coffee and Tea Ceremony is from 9:15 to 10:15 AM at the Walker County Museum Gibbs-Powell House at 1228 11th Street.
The Gravesite Ceremony will be at Oakwood Cemetery at Avenue I and 9th Street.
