New Waverly Fire Department PIO, Jimmy Williams passes along that New Waverly Firefighters Chance Gardner and Shane Gehovak are no strangers to battling wildfires. Both grew up in the area and served in the department before starting a career in the fire service and returning home to serve as some of the first full-time firefighters hired by ESD #2. The ESD supports the efforts of the New Waverly Fire Department to provide fire suppression, EMS, and rescue services to the community.
The department has embarked on an extensive training program aimed at improving its ability to respond to a growing wildland/urban interface wildfire risk throughout Texas and beyond..
As part of that program, Gardner and Gehovak are among the dozens of New Waverly Firefighters that have deployed to major wildfires over the past decade.
