At this week’s Huntsville City Council session councilmembers considered adopting the 2024 Water Conservation And Drought Contingency Plan. Councilmember McKenzie made a recommended waiving the requirement for readings on two separate days to approve the plan that evening.
Public Works Director Brent Sherrod told councilmembers:
The second reading was waived and councilmembers approved the ordinance adopting the plan.The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires that the plan be updated every five years.
The agenda packet said, “Some of the areas addressed in the new revision include updated census and utility profile information, and water production volumes. The firm of Alan Plummer and Associates was retained to assist in the revision of this plan. The entire document is on file in the City Secretary’s Office.”
