The Courier of Montgomery County reports that several new buildings are coming into fruition off Texas 75 and along both I-45 and Loop 336 South.
–Under Construction right now at the southeast corner of Texas 105 and I-45 in Conroe is a two-story education and visitors center at the south end of Montgomery County Memorial Park. The park was formerly in downtown Conroe.
The park features monuments to the fallen soldiers of Montgomery County, a tribute to World War II women pilots, armed forces and state and federal flags and a monument called “The Line” where any military veteran can be recognized. Patriotic holidays are observed in the park.
–Location two of the second Planet Fitness in Conroe will be located at the former Kroger’s on Conroe’s South Loop.
It will offer 25,000 square feet of space featuring cardio and strength equipment, fitness training at no charge and a Black Card Spa. It opens later this year.
–On Foster Drive in Conroe, work is underway on the new Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center. The present center, named after Conroe’s first Black city councilman, is at 100 Park Place.
In July of 2023, on Foster Drive a groundbreaking took place for the planned 87,000-square-foot facility. Phase 1 of the project is slated to be complete this fall. The center features a fitness center with two gyms, walking trail and lookout pier, community meeting spaces, and indoor track and fitness equipment.
–Ahead for the SHSU Conroe campus is a new health professions building.
The College of Osteopathic Medicine is on the site on I-45 just south of Loop 336 South. Currently the campus sits on 7.3 acres featuring a five story building and a several story adjacent parking garage. The planned $70 million health professions building will be situated between the parking garage and southbound interstate feeder road. The project got underway in May with a finishing date of December 2025.
