Community Impact reports that work on several railroad crossings is underway in South Montgomery County by the Union Pacific Railroad. It will cause a number of delays and road closures, as it’s part of an overall maintenance project this month.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler’s office, in a social media post, has provided the list of roads that will be closed for work to replace railroad ties and resurface roadways at crossings.
Upcoming Roads to be closed, include:
-Today, January 14th, Highway 242, eastbound and westbound
-January 21st, FM 1488, east of I-45
-January22nd, Rayford Road Access
-January 23rd, Richards Road and River Plantation Drive
Work crews are aiming at having the tie replacements done each day, according to Union Pacific.
According to officials, they have a goal “to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible, with the least amount of impact to neighborhoods, commuters and businesses.”
The replacement of the ties from Union Pacific is part of a program to replace around 600 railroad ties in Montgomery and Harris counties.
