Community Impact reports that on April 8th, in order to address road and drainage concerns in the Conroe, New Caney and Porter areas, Montgomery County commissioners approved applying for $16.5 million in federal grant funds.
Commissioners, in their consent agenda, approved seven applications for federal grant funds for Precinct 4 with U.S. Representative Morgan Luttrell and U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw.
The requests applied for include:
–$2 million in Porter post office drainage improvements
–$1 million for an Environmental enhancement/flood damage reduction study on West Fork, San Jacinto River
–$5 million for Tram Road drainage and mobility improvements
–$2 million for I-69 southbound frontage road drainage improvements
–$4 million for Willis-Waukegan Road mobility improvements
–$2.5 million for bridge replacements
Allowing members of the U.S. House to allocate funding to local areas for projects such as critical infrastructure replacements and public facilities, the grants are through the federal Community Project Funding initiative.
The congressmen will be able to file their community funding requests with the Appropriations Committee for the House on April 14th. The requests for funding are being made for the fiscal year 2026.
