The City of Huntsville has welcomed Sam H. Masiel Jr. to their staff as the new Assistant City Manager.
Sam is originally from Fairfield, Texas, and graduated from Fairfield High School. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 2002 and a Master of Public Administration in 2019, both from Sam Houston State University.
Sam and his wife Megan have two daughters, Peyton and Dylin. Megan is also a Sam Houston graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Their family currently resides in Conroe. Sam began his career in municipal government with the City of Conroe in 2007 as
the Utility Billing Manager. In 2016, he was promoted to the Assistant Director of Internal Services, overseeing the operations of Purchasing/Warehouse, Fleet Services, and Information Technology/GIS. Over his tenure at Conroe, Sam was involved in multiple community and civic organizations, such as Leadership Montgomery County, Education for Tomorrow Alliance and the Conroe Independent School District.
Sam is a member of the Texas City Management Association, Urban Management Professionals of Southeast Texas, Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, National Institute of Government Purchasing, and the Texas Association of Government Information Technology Managers.
