The Courier of Montgomery County reports that Compassion United, based in Conroe, is implementing its next step forward for their campus which will focus on helping the homeless. As a result, HomeAid Houston and Highland Homes in Houston will be constructing transitional homes on the Miracle City campus.
In December, construction is slated to get underway.
Helping provide access between nonprofit care providers looking for assistance in construction and professional builders, HomeAid Houston exercises their expertise. In order to get remodeling and new construction of homeless shelters done, HomeAid works with Greater Houston Builders Association members.
Five acres on Foster Drive was donated by the City in 2018 for a facility to serve the homeless known as Miracle City. They have a 5,500-square-foot Empowerment Center housing their classrooms and offices. The Center also has worship services and provides meals. They offer group counseling, a career coach, access to computers and case management.
Regarding the transitional home plans, three houses are planned. One house will be for men, another one for women and another for women with kids. Completion of the homes is expected to take around 18 months.
