Huntsville Head Start Orientation

August 6

Huntsville Head Start will host an orientation for all parents attending Head Start for the upcoming school year. Sessions are set for 1pm & for 6pm Aug. 6. Pre-registration is helpful. Applications are still being accepted for the 2015-2016 school year. The local Head Start is located on FM 980 near its intersection with FM 247.

Diva Night

August 14

The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “Diva Night” for ladies. This event is set for 5:30-8:30pm Aug. 14 in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom on the SHSU campus. Tickets are now on sale – cost is $35 each. The theme for this year’s program will be “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

The Region 6 Education Service Center will join with the Partners Resource Network to present a “Back-to-School Bash” sponsored by United Way. Outdoor Explorer

August 19

The City of Huntsville is once again partnering with Texas Parks & Wildlife for another series of “Outdoor Explorer” programs. You are invited to learn basic safety for biking, hiking & kayaking during the programs which will take place at Huntsville State Park. The next class is scheduled for 9am to 1pm July 18. Walker County Farmers Market

The 2015 Walker County Farmers Market will open Saturday in the parking lot of West Hill Mall on Highway 30 West in Huntsville. The market will open at 8am and will remain open until sell out on Saturdays & Wednesdays. Bearkat Pride Video Submission

With 3 state-of-the-art video boards being installed at SHSU athletic venues, Bearkat Athletics is asking fans to submit photos & videos showcasing their Bearkat pride at popular & famous landmarks across the state of Texas. The photos & videos will be compiled & featured on the video boards during the playing of the iconic song “Deep In The Heart of Texas” during home Bearkat athletic contests.
