Puppy Obedience Classes from Huntsville Pets Helping People

January 8 - February 29

The “Huntsville Pets Helping People” organization is now offering 4 levels of obedience classes. The levels include “Puppy,” “AKC Star Puppy,” “Basic Dog Obedience” & “CGC Obedience.” The group’s new facility – the “Dawg House” – has both indoor & outdoor training facilities with emphasis on positive reinforcement with treats & play. 40th anniversary of Johnson Coliseum

January 8 - February 27

SHSU is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the opening of Johnson Coliseum with a series of special exhibits & presentations through Feb. 27. a celebratory exhibit is being featured in the coliseum lobby between gates 25 & 28, where visitors can see photos, news articles & items that help tell the story of the popular facility. Huntsville Youth Baseball League Registration

January 11 - February 17

Registration can be accomplished on the league’s new website through Feb. 17. On-site registration is set for 9am-noon Feb. 6 & 13 at Kate Barr Ross Park on Highway 75 North. The Walker County 4-H Shotgun Club will host its annual Valentine Dinner & Dance from 6:30-10pm Feb. 12. The event will take place at the Walker County Storm Shelter on Highway 75 North across from Huntsville’s Kate Barr Ross Park. The San Jacinto County Area “Go Texan” Committee will host its annual dinner & auction Feb. 13. The event will take place at the Polk County Commerce Center in Livingston. The purpose of the committee is to raise money that will go toward awarding local scholarships to deserving graduation high school students within San Jacinto County. School for Beginning Beekeeping

Anyone interested in learning about bees and/or beekeeping is invited to the “School for Beginning Beekeeping” presented by the Walker County Beekeepers Association. Huntsville Public Library Beginning & Advanced Spanish Classes

February 14 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Huntsville Public Library will offer Beginning & Advanced Spanish classes on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 14. The 14-week program has room for 35 students per level. Huntsville Youth Football League- Coaches Needed

The Huntsville Youth Football League is accepting applications for head coaches within the league. Applicants must have knowledge of football, and be dedicated to the full football schedule. Coaches must also be able to obtain a USA Football Heads Up certification before the season begins. Coaching experience is preferred. Application deadline is April 15.
